Are you chasing after fires?

We have companies in the area that chase fires, however we do not do it due to the negative affects on the customer. We have been called into several fires that the competitor chased and the customer threw them out. Most customers get upset when the companies show up even before the fire is out.

This is a situation where marketing is crucial. Work on your SEO for fire damage so that when a person has a need, it is impossible for them to not find you. Also getting in good with property managers and letting a client know that you offer that service.

A great trick for this is to have it on your cards or advertisements. So when a person hires you to do this job, they KNOW that you also offer all of these other services. You blow them away with the water restoration job and they know you can help them with fire damage, when that day comes you will very likely get the call.

We chase not by choice, but out of necessity. All our competitors are doing it. Even though I don't necessarily agree with chasing itself, I don't agree with your comment. I would say for the 50% of customers that get mad with you being there, the other 50% are glad someone is there because they didn't even know DR companies existed.

Property Mgnt. companies would be a great avenue... we subscribe to the radio calls so we are alerted when the fires actually happen and we have a structure estimator/salesman on call to try to sell the board up which gets our foot in the door to sell the other services.

We chase as well. We will only visit a home a day after the fire. We specialize in smoke damage cleanup. Most of the homeowners are trying to clean it by themselves and not realizing it is a covered loss.
They are extremely glad we came to help and know what to do and work directly with their insurance carrier.

We do not chase, only will go on-site while fire is active or just done in some unique circumstances. We are called direct by insurance agents, customers, property managers, building owners, business owners etc. In most "fire chase" response I've been to, I haven't been able to do mitigation until the following day, where a phone call could get me the information I need ready to respond. It is the companies choice on how to pursue work and use labor.

Fire damage restoration is done after the fire is controlled by the firefighters. Fire Restoration company makes your property smoke free. The invisible smoke enters into cracks of the property and if not removed it might be harmful to health.
Your local restoration company does it all and makes your property look back to its glory form.
Hope this information helps you in some way!
